Just Eat UK's Super Hero Sunday soaring towards £1m target
Just Eat’s latest charity initiative to support frontline workers and heroes in the fight against Coronavirus has already raised over 40% of its £1m target, including a donation from long standing Just Eat partner, Subway®.
Super Hero Sunday, which is running every Sunday in May until Sunday 24th, sees 20% of every order made via the Just Eat app from participating restaurants, donated to three worthy charities. When customers order a delicious meal to enjoy at home, at no additional cost to them, 20% of the value of the meal will help build a much-needed fund for NHS Charities Together, National Emergencies Trust, and The Care Workers’ Charity.
Over 4,000 Just Eat restaurant partners are taking part in the Super Hero Sunday initiative, pledging to donate 10% from each Just Eat order , with the food delivery app matching each donation.
Since launching the initiative on Sunday 3rd May, Just Eat has seen the campaign supported by:
- Nearly 50,000 customer orders placed from the participating restaurants
- The key time for these has been between 4pm and 5:30pm - with customers placing their orders this Sunday ahead of the nation tuning into Number 10’s 7pm announcement.
- The most popular meals ordered to support the three charities have been Italian/pizza, making up 28% of orders followed by Indian (22%).
The money raised to support NHS Charities Together, National Emergencies Trust, and The Care Workers Charity will be put to work to collectively support the NHS, care workers and care homes, food banks, the emergency services and a wide range of community foundations across the UK.
Andrew Kenny, Just Eat UK Managing Director commented:
“By simply ordering a delicious meal to enjoy at home this Sunday and next, at no additional cost to themselves, Just Eat customers can help raise funds for three fantastic charities to support carers, NHS workers and frontline heroes helping to keep our families safe during this crisis.
"In addition to Subway’s generous donation, we’re working together with thousands of independent, often family run restaurants on our platform in communities across the country who have gone above and beyond to keep the nation fed during this unprecedented time. “
