Veganuary sees a 50% increase in vegan dishes ordered

For Veganuary, the annual movement that encourages plant based diets for the month of January, online food delivery website Just Eat have analysed a year of customer orders across the UK to show a 17% increase in vegan dishes ordered.

The growth in vegan orders reflects an increase in interest in plant-based diets, not just from those taking part in Veganuary, but also from vegetarians, flexitarians and people who want to reduce the amount of meat they consume.

According to the Just Eat data, the UK adopt flexitarian diets across the seasons:

  • 17% increase in vegan dishes year on year
  • 50% increase in vegan dishes throughout January to March
  • 47% more vegan dishes in Summer months (June to August)

When reviewing the UK’s capital cities, Edinburgh sees the highest number of vegan orders during Veganuary:

  4. Cardiff

The top UK cities seeing the highest vegan order growth are:

  1. Ceredigion
  2. Northampton
  3. Sunderland
  4. South Cambridgeshire
  5. East Dorset
  6. Swansea
  7. Darlington
  8. Guildford
  9. Vale of White Horse
  10. Derby
